Standstill

Mother Earth is speaking.

STOP, STOP, STOP!!!.

Overpopulation, poverty

Have unleashed a pandemic

That is garnering the attention

Of those who would rather ignore

The crazed pace, technology constant.

This flagrant lack of connection to nature.

Has moved Mother from whisper to roar.

Citizens are dying, economies crashing.

The world as we know it will never

Ever be so blind again.

Mother is shouting STOP!

Breathe, walk, listen to nature,

The sun, rain, clouds, and breezes.

Socially distance while getting outside.

Allow the epic changes unfolding.

Release stress, worry, fatigue,

Return or find on inner planes

Connection to the Divine.

Soften into gentle intake

Of the inner Light.

Whispers of joy,

Bliss, peace,

Solitude

Grace.

I was raised on a midwestern farm where we grew food and raised crops for animals in a cycle of dependence and harmony with nature. I witnessed inception of television, plastics, synthetics, computer, the internet.  All changes exciting, but stressful and challenging.  The shutdown due to corona virus has returned many to a slower pace of life! For some loneliness, has ensued.  For others fear, anxiety, or fury has led to increased domestic violence calls. But for many the slowed or work-from-home change finds families gathered together, the pace allowing a resetting of love and grace.

These imposed stay home orders offer reflection and connection to Mother Earth who holds, waters, rocks, and feeds us, her children.  Breathe in by sinking roots deeply into Mother while simultaneously breathing up to connect with God (by whatever name you so call).   By sitting, walking, dancing, or swaying in stillness we come to gratitude for our breath.  Expanding the lungs with stomach inflating and deflating with each in and out breath supports our physical bodies. May this awareness of breath also still our minds bringing inner peace and awakening in this challenging time!
